Preseason is Better than No Football

Thank God we have football to watch again. Hooray!

The preseason games are scattered all over the TV schedule.We have games on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the next couple of weeks.

The Titans played their first game away, and lost to the Seattle Seahawks. We are looking forward to their first home game this weekend and, hopefully, a win this time against the Cardinals.

Today was the hottest day of the entire year so far. It hit 100 degrees and the humidity was so high that it felt a lot hotter. You could not walk from the house to the car without breaking into a sweat. Tomorrow is supposed exactly like today all over again.

Weird to think that one month ago it was raining. It rained for 3 days straight and caused massive flooding in Nashville. Since then, West Virginia has had flash floods. I don’t think that the average person takes flash floods seriously. But I know that after this month, the people of Nashville will take it more seriously. We have a massive cleanup underway and it will be months before some places will be able to reopen, such as the Opryland Hotel and the Opry Mills Mall.

Today we honor the servicemen and servicewoman who have defended our country. It is only fitting that we take one day a year to pause and give thanks to these braves people and their families for what they have done to protect our freedoms.

This week and next is the big tekkie gathering in Austin called SXSW. The first week is for computer geeks and then the second week is for musicians. This is the one trade show that I would be willing to pay my own way. If I can’t get a gig with a company to send me next year, maybe I will just pony up and go on my own.

I hate the cold weather. The people who live in the northern states must be out of their minds to willingly live in a colder climate. Even down here in the South it has been freezing and below. We have had snow and freezing rain all week. Bleh.

Tonight I am staying in and fixing big pot of chili. Going to make enough to last for several days. I can jazz it up every day with different things like cheese, chopped onions, sour cream and different breads on the side , like cornbread, frybread and sourdough.

Saw kids on the corner waiting for the school bus and they were dressed up like indians. I wondered what was up with that? So I stopped and asked the little brat that live across the street from my place. He said for Thanksgiving the school kids were supposed to dress up as either a pilgrim or an indian. I think there are going to be a whole lot of indians running that school today!
