I hate the cold weather. The people who live in the northern states must be out of their minds to willingly live in a colder climate. Even down here in the South it has been freezing and below. We have had snow and freezing rain all week. Bleh.

Tonight I am staying in and fixing big pot of chili. Going to make enough to last for several days. I can jazz it up every day with different things like cheese, chopped onions, sour cream and different breads on the side , like cornbread, frybread and sourdough.

IT’s been a while since I went grocery shopping in a big store. Usually I just stop by the food Lion close to my house. I like the Food Lion because they have most of what I need and it is pretty quick to get in and find what I want, pay for it without a big line and get home. But sometimes I want a few things that Food Lion doesn’t carry, so I went to the new Publix about 15 minutes farther from my house. It is huge and I found what I wanted. But dang! There were 4 people in line in front of me and it took 20 minutes just to check out. That’s crazy!

We had a business dinner at an upscale restaurant last night. We were there for hours and made the most of the time and the food. We started out with a happy hour cocktail and platter of appetizers to share. Then a salad and fresh baked pumpernickel bread. Then the main course – I ordered a fillet with baked crab au gratin piled on top. OMG! Heaven.

No one wanted to leave, so we ordered a round of after dinner drinks and coffees. So they brought out a tray table loaded with desserts and everyone had to choose a dessert. I was torn between cake or pie.

What would you choose?

Even though the weather is miserable, I wanted to grill a steak tonight. So I stood outside in 20 degrees, in the dark, and tended to my little Coleman gas grill. It was so cold outside that I had to leave the steak on the grill for an extra 8 minutes, but it was worth it. No one cooks a T-Bone like me and my Coleman. Add a nice baker, something green, and some Texas Toast. Now, that’s a dinner, Trevor style.
