Weird to think that one month ago it was raining. It rained for 3 days straight and caused massive flooding in Nashville. Since then, West Virginia has had flash floods. I don’t think that the average person takes flash floods seriously. But I know that after this month, the people of Nashville will take it more seriously. We have a massive cleanup underway and it will be months before some places will be able to reopen, such as the Opryland Hotel and the Opry Mills Mall.

IT’s been a while since I went grocery shopping in a big store. Usually I just stop by the food Lion close to my house. I like the Food Lion because they have most of what I need and it is pretty quick to get in and find what I want, pay for it without a big line and get home. But sometimes I want a few things that Food Lion doesn’t carry, so I went to the new Publix about 15 minutes farther from my house. It is huge and I found what I wanted. But dang! There were 4 people in line in front of me and it took 20 minutes just to check out. That’s crazy!

I have two belts. One is black and one is brown.

I almost never wear belts. But sometimes you must have a belt. the problem is that belts and belt loops come in different sizes. So the brown belt I have is too wide to fit in the belt loops of my new kahki pants. A black belt does not look right on kahki and I don’t wear black shoes with kahki.

So now I have to wear blue pants instead of the kahki, and after work I’ll go buy a thin brown belt.

And then there were three.

There must be a psychological disease named for what I do, but I don’t know what it is. I cannot throw away cardboard boxes.

If I buy a new appliance or new equipment that comes in a box, I open the box to take out the item and then save the box and the styrofoam, in case I have to return it or move or need to repack it. I figure that it is better to put the item back in the packaging that it came in. It is safer that way and easy to deal with.

But friends are telling me that this is extreme and I should just throw out the boxes. But the though of throwing them away makes me very uncomfortable. Why would you throw away a perfectly good box?

Even though the weather is miserable, I wanted to grill a steak tonight. So I stood outside in 20 degrees, in the dark, and tended to my little Coleman gas grill. It was so cold outside that I had to leave the steak on the grill for an extra 8 minutes, but it was worth it. No one cooks a T-Bone like me and my Coleman. Add a nice baker, something green, and some Texas Toast. Now, that’s a dinner, Trevor style.

There was an ad on the radio today from the local human society about adopting a dog. I hadn’t thought about it much, but the DJ talked about a puppy that no one had wanted to adopt and the shelter can only keep un adopted dogs for a certain time. If no one adopted this puppy today, they were going to have to put it down. The DJ described her as adorable, affectionate, loyal, and already housebroken.

For some reason it was like the puppy was calling to me to come save her, so I turned the car around and headed to the shelter and picked her up. I had to pay $150 for her shots and the neutering, and I stopped by the pet store on the way home to buy another $50 worth of food and a couple toys, a leash and a collar.

So now I have a new best friend who is happy to see me when I get home and she keeps me company all night. It’s great.

Looking forward to the guys coming around on Sunday afternoon for a night of football and beer. I have a pretty decent sized flat screen TV that makes watching televised games so much better that my place has pretty much an open door and open TV policy. What with all the sports channels that I subscribe to and all of the now televised games that go on practically all year round, one would be hard put not to find something to watch most of the time.

I grew up in a big family so I enjoy having a house that is usually active, loud and fun filled, most of the time my buddies are of the decent type, there have been a few that have provided a challenge or two, but that is life and it all works out in the wash.

The one channel that I find myself watching more and more is The Animal Planet which isn’t surprising considering that I consider myself to be animal lover by nature and am thankful that I was fortunate enough to be able have several animals in my childhood in which to learn by and care for. Hence the house full of critters that I share my home with currently.

The Animal Planet always has something on that is educational and entertaining, they have a good mixture of happy stories and unfortunately plenty that are tearjerkers and break my heart to have to watch and listen to the atrocities that have fallen on many of god’s creatures big and small.
